Website design award for Hollister Creative's James A. Michener Art Museum Charles Sheeler exhibition site

Hollister Creative, a Philadelphia area marketing communications agency, has been honored with a 2017 Communicator Award for the James A. Michener Art Museum’s Charles Sheeler exhibition website, Charlessheeler.org.

The recognition continues the agency’s winning streak for international awards, bringing its total to 24 in the last five years.

The museum, located in Bucks County, wanted a special website for the exhibition on Sheeler, a Condé Nast fashion photographer from 1926 to 1931. Museum leaders challenged Hollister Creative to make the entire site design a reflection of Sheeler’s unique sensibility, creating an environment that would inspire interest in the exhibition and drive ticket sales. Hollister’s designers followed the spirit of the artist to design the Charles Sheeler website as he might have designed it.

Hollister won an Award Of Distinction in the category Websites — Cultural Institutions. The Communicator Awards receives more than 6,000 entries from companies and agencies of all sizes, and is billed as the “leading international awards program recognizing big ideas in marketing and communications.”

Winners were selected by the Academy of Interactive & Visual Arts (AIVA), an invitation-only panel of leaders from well-known multi-media companies, including Airtype Studio, Conde Nast, Pitney Bowes, Sotheby’s Institute of Art and Time. Unlike many awards programs, categories can have multiple winners, or none, based on the quality of the entries.

Among this year’s winners are major brands such as Volkswagen, American Eagle, Forbes BrandVoice and Comcast.
