Kim Landry, President of Hollister Creative, has been selected for participation in the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program. The three-month 10KSB program provides qualified entrepreneurs across the country with focused, practical business education and access to capital and business support services, with the ultimate goal of spurring growth that creates jobs.
Just 30 percent of applicants are accepted into the program, which is active in 18 cities nationwide. The businesses selected have demonstrated a commitment to creating jobs within their community, have at least four employees, have been in operation for at least two years and are poised for growth, according to the criteria set by Goldman Sachs.
In this region, classes meet for 100 hours at the Community College of Philadelphia. In addition, participants meet outside of class in Growth Groups of five or six classmates to discuss and refine homework assignments. In addition to education and networking opportunities, participants get one-on-one support from executive business coaches.
As part of the program, Landry will design and build a growth plan for Hollister Creative that will be tested and sharpened by a team of her peers. According to Goldman Sachs, 63 percent of program graduates have reported increases in revenues within six months of graduation, with 47 percent reporting creation of new jobs.
The Goldman Sachs Foundation provides every participant with a full scholarship covering tuition and materials. Landry is in the sixth Philadelphia cohort, a group of 35 entrepreneurs who are scheduled to graduate on April 17, 2015.
