Hollister Creative has been honored with a 2014 Communicator Award for the design of a new alumni magazine created for the Drexel University College of Medicine. This award is Hollister’s 14th in international marketing, design and communication competitions in the last two years.
The annual Communicator Awards program receives more than 6,000 entries from marketing and communications companies around the world. Hollister Creative won a Silver Award of Distinction in the Magazine – Educational Institution category.
Working with Drexel Univeristy College of Medicine’s Marketing & Communications Department, Hollister’s designers developed a photo-centric magazine that captured story subjects in their professional and creative workspaces. Each story was uniquely designed to keep the attention of the reader, while unifying elements, such as body type, established cohesiveness throughout the publication.
The first two editions were published in 2014, and the College of Medicine has contracted with Hollister Creative to design two more in 2015.
Winners of the Communicator Awards are selected by the Academy of Interactive & Visual Arts (AIVA), an invitation-only panel consisting of leaders from a host of industry leading companies. Panelists include executives from organizations such as Conde Nast, Disney and Time, while winners included the teams of major corporations such as Bank of America, UnitedHealthcare and Mercedes-Benz USA.
Entries are scored on a 100-point scale. Unlike many awards programs, categories can have multiple, or no winners, based on the quality of the entries.
“Drexel University College of Medicine had a grand vision to start a very high quality magazine, and that made it an exciting project for us,” said Kim Landry, president and founder of Hollister Creative. “Even with our long history of creating new publications for clients, each one presents a new challenge to engage a specific audience. We know we have met the challenge when we delight the client and win an award.”
